Week 4, Day 3 Cultural Health
Yesterday we looked an environmental health, especially as it relates to the Bad River and Kakagon Sloughs. Today, we learned about cultural health from Bad River elder Joe Rose. Joe invited Ed Thomas, his son, Ahpahnae (a veteran of the TYM programs), and some singers. This was the first time some of the UW students had ever heard an Ojibwe Big Drum. Ed taught the students some dances. The women in our group particularly enjoyed watching the men struggle with the Fish Dance.
Guess where everybody ended up after lunch?
